Getting Started with Billion Softswitch

Q: Is the transcoding between g.729 and g.723 available in the Billion Softswitch?
A: No.

Q: What are the supported codecs?
A: Any codec supported without transcoding. Also Billion Softswitch can transcode between G.711, GSM, G.726, LPC, MS-IMA-ADPCM, SpeexNarrow, iLBC.

Q: How does the billing interconnect?
A: CDR files or RADIUS protocol.

Q: How to set two endpoints or IP-phones as subscribers?
A: Endpoints should execute registration procedure (RAS or SIP).

Q: What is SIP registrar IP-address?
A: 5060 – by default, but it can be changed in BSS settings.

Q: Does your softswitch support H323 and SIP and can convert/translate H323 ---> SIP and vice versa?
A: Yes.

Q: Do you have web interface for CDR collection and distribution?
A: No.

Q: Does your softswitch have web interface to manage/configure the switch and can monitor the real time traffic?
A: Yes.

Q: What version of Linux does your platform support?
A: It runs under all Linux versions.

Q: Do you have integrated (built in) billing facility in your softswitch or we need a third party billing soft?
A: Billion Softswitch contains integrated billing with limited functionality. We recommend to use built-in billing for networks with number of customers below 100. If number of customers exceed 100 it is more reasonable to use external billing system, for instance, “Billion” billing system.

Q: What are the limitations for demo and trial versions of BSS?
A: Demo-version is limited by not more than two concurrent calls and not more than 3 minutes of call duration. Trial version is limited by the period of usage – and with no limitations in functionality in general.

Q: Does BSS have IVR?
A: Yes.

Q: Does BSS support call-back?
A: Yes.
