SafeObjects

SafeObjects package is a next step in development of SmartObjects-for-Toolbar created by our company in 1998 as an extension of Progress SmartObject family. SmartObjects included in SafeObject are completely compatible with ADM2 and bound to work in Progress 9.1x environment.

This set of SmartObjects can be used to make application user interface universal. The core of the package is SafeToolbar - SmartObject combining all functions of Navigation and Updating SmartPanels and having a range of additional functions. Due to its flexibility this object can be implemented under different circumstances.

What is it for?

It seems that everyone working with Progress SmartObjects sooner or later come to understanding that he or she needs something else, something improving this powerful mechanism. Yes, applications has been made really fast, but to fully prepare them to real life you need to do some hard job. Besides, standard SmartObjects, like SmartPanel, has functions that we do not need every time and to disable them we should either create new SmartPanels or write something by hand.

When we realised this, we decided to create SmartPanel that will be, firstly - compact, and secondly - universal. So we made SmartToolbar. The new attributes and properties had been added during development, the applicability of this SmartObjects had been extended. The result was beyond our waiting. We fully refused standard SmartPanels. The amount of additional by hand programming was reduced in much times. User interface of our applications has become more friendly and unified.
